Council Meeting Minutes

January 7, 2008

 

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Richard Wetzel at 7:00 P.M.

 

Roll Call:           Kathy Smedley – Present

                        Barbiel Saunders – Present

                        Ken Peters – Present

                        Ashlee Cunningham – Present

 

                        Bob Grove, Administrator – Present

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was spoken by all.

 

Visitor: Matt Pepper

 

Oath of Office was given to Mayor Wetzel prior to the meeting by Robert Grove.

Oath of Office was given to Ashlee Cunningham and Tonya Mayle by Mayor Wetzel.

Council President was selected by nomination of Kathy Smedley by Ken Peters and 2nd by Barbiel Saunders.  Nominations were closed by Randy Cunningham and 2nd by Tonya Mayle. 

 

Motion to accept Annual Appropriations Ordinance 01-2008 as prepared by Kathy Smedley and Kaye Appleman was made by Kathy Smedley and 2nd by Ken Peters.

 

Motion to accept and sign the Fire Contract with the Chesterhill Volunteer Fire Department was made by Randy Cunningham and 2nd by Tonya Mayle.

 

Motion to accept Minutes from the December 3rd 2007 meeting was made by Kathy Smedley and 2nd by Tonya Mayle.

 

Motion to accept the Amended Financial Report and pay the bills was made by Kathy Smedley and 2nd by Barbiel Saunders.  Motion to pay $8.00 per hour for office help made by Kathy Smedley and 2nd by Ken Peters.

 

Village Clerk Report: Kaye “Thanked” everyone for their help and assistance while away from the office.  Clerk to write letter to GEI Sanitation about trash service and complaints. Clerk to ask Township Trustees to a meeting.  Kathy and Barbiel volunteered to be on the Cemetery committee with the township this year.    

 

Motion to accept the Village Administrator’s Report was made by Kathy Smedley and 2nd by Randy Cunningham.  Bob Grove handed out abandon water tap report, presented end of year for the water dock and improvements that need to be made in 2008 and ask for right-of-way permission for Brunner Land Company to put water line in on Daniels Lane. Water line issue was sent to Infrastructure Committee.

 

Committee Reports:

            Park and Recreation: Randy Cunningham reports no activity.  Mayor asked Randy to consider becoming the Director of the Park.  They shall discuss this further.

            Marion Community and Recreation Center: Tonya Mayle reported on activities.  Mayor ask that the wood be kept in a tidy manor around the building.

            Union Hall Theater:  John Wetzel submitted expenses as read by the clerk.  Motion by Kathy Smedley and 2nd by Ken Peters to allow expenditures not to exceed $700.00.

            Broadband: Ken Peters reports. System is running beautifully.  360 degree antenna has been installed.  Start up as Utility in February.  An Open House will be held to explain to public. Matt Pepper has been instrumental in making this happen. Thanks Matt.  Expenditures not to exceed $500.00 were motioned by Kathy Smedley and 2nd by Barbiel Saunders.

            Law Enforcement: Mayor, being the Chief Law Enforcement Officer,  suggests action be taken for Kathern Nolan and Bernard Triplet properties which are in violation of their Mayor’s Court order.  Mayor’s Court will be held January 17, 2008 at Village Hall.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

            * Motion to renew insurance with Public Entities Pool was made by Tonya Mayle and 2nd by Barbiel Saunders.

            * Barbiel Saunders presented a sketch of new Village entrance sign.  Street signs were ordered from ANA Safety Signs on January 10, 2008 by village clerk.

            * Mayor ask that village stay with Adam Voris for engineering needs. Adam has joined a new firm, EMH & T in Columbus.  Item sent to Infrastructure Committee.

 

ALL MOTIONS CARRIED.

 

Meeting adjourned at 8:15 P.M. by motion of Ashlee Cunningham and 2nd by Kathy Smedley.  Most rushed home to see the miserable defeat of our Ohio State Buckeyes.
